Jorge I. Dominguez – Experienced Administrator, Researcher, and Writer

Harvard University Professor (retired) Jorge I. Dominguez, PhD, taught international studies for 46 years. In addition to teaching students, Dr. Jorge I. Dominguez appeared before Congress, presented on international studies, appeared in broadcast media, and had his work published in newspapers, magazines, and academic journals.

In an August 2024 article in the academic journal Democratization, Dr. Dominguez examined voter turnout in Cuba in 2018 and 2023. “Inching toward democratization? Comparing Cuba’s National Assembly elections, 2018 and 2023” explores how voter turnout in both parliamentary election years helped the country approach reform.

Dr. Dominguez has published articles on Latin American and Caribbean governance in the Boston Globe, Financial Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, The New York Times, and Newsday, as well as numerous other notable newspapers and magazines. His research has also appeared in Foreign Policy, Comparative Politics, the Connecticut Law Review, the Journal of Interdisciplinary History, and other academic journals. He has also written books on international affairs, contributed chapters to other books on the topic, and reviewed books for other academics.

Moreover, Dr. Dominguez continues to research and write on international affairs. Outside his academic interests, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and attending concerts and theater.
